I have chosen to create a blog to document
my introduction to Auslan, as it is flexible, accessible and tangible. Being
created online though digital media, I am able to edit, revise and update my
learning to keep it current and reflect my most recent skills. Being on the
internet, my blog is accessible from any device, anywhere in the world,
eliminating the need to have my resource saved and in my possession. It is also
accessible to others, facilitating interaction with strangers who share an
interest in sign language, who may also proffer new insights and understandings.
My blog could also be used to raise the profile of Auslan and provide an introduction
to those who are uninitiated. As Auslan
is a visual language and I am a visual learner, I felt that videos are an
invaluable tool for consolidating my skills. Auslan uses a three-dimensional
space to communicate, and still images would not do its richness justice or
accurately reflect movement; such a crucial parameter. In any instances where videos require further
explanation, text, documents and outside links can easily be added to support.
